A spring-assisted knife has a small spring inside the handle. You start to open the blade yourself with the flipper tab, and the spring finishes the opening quickly. It is not an automatic knife (switchblade), which opens when you press a button. Some states and cities have rules for spring-assisted knives, so check your local laws before you carry one.
Knife laws are different in each state, county and city. Some places limit blade length, spring-assisted knives, daggers, or carrying a knife hidden on you. Check your state and local laws before you buy, carry or travel with a knife. You are responsible for following the laws where you live and where you take it.
Our store is for adults only. You must be at least 21 years old to use this site or buy from us, and that includes our knives. Keep every knife out of reach of children.
Hold the handle firmly and keep your fingers away from the edge. Swing the blade open until it stops.
To close it, release the lock if your knife has one. Keep your fingers out of the blade's path and fold the blade slowly back into the handle. Always close the blade when you are not using it.
The flipper tab is a small tab on the back of the blade. When the knife is closed, it sticks out from the top of the handle. Press it with your index finger to swing the blade open with one hand. When the knife is open, the tab sits in front of your fingers like a small guard.
Wipe the blade clean and dry after each use. Do not put it in the dishwasher or leave it in water. If your knife folds, a drop of oil on the pivot keeps it opening smoothly. Store it closed, in a dry place. To keep the art on the blade and handle looking new, avoid harsh cleaners and rough scrubbing.
Not in your carry-on bag. TSA rules do not allow knives in carry-on bags. You can pack it in your checked bag: close it and wrap it so it cannot hurt baggage inspectors. Also check the knife laws where you are going.
